How many glowlight tetras for 5 gal.?

ILOVEBETTAS

It's Cory Lover's cat!
I have a 5 gallon with a small goldfish in it that will be in the pond soon. I want glowlight tetras for it when I get rid of the goldfish. My question is, how many can I fit in a 5 gal? It has GREAT filtration... I might not clean it for 2 weeks nd there'll be zero ammonia... and the goldfish is 3 in. long and thriving. It also has a bio-wheel.

So how many can live in there?

well, tetras need a group of 6 or more, and this is too small for it...

Your user name is ILOVEBETTAS, so let me be the first to suggest a betta. Or are sick of bettas? How about some frogs or shrimp? Maybe a guppy or two?

What are you talking about? Neons and glolights are practically the same fish with different coloring. Also the glolights are probably hardier. Neons in a small tank is not good for such a fragile fish.

I wouldn't put Neons or Glowlights in a 5g. IMO a 10g is minimum for a school. For a 5g, how about a few ADFs or a betta.

Five glowlites would be OK imo. They look great with a dark background and substrate to bring out their subtle colors.

Glo-lites will grow too large for a 5 gallon tank. They can grow to three inches or more. Believe me, I know this. I have a small school of glo-lites in my discus tank and they are the size of a small minnow now. I would suggest a betta maybe with a trio of otos. You can plant it up and it will look awsome.

glolight tetras grow larger than neon tetras do

but on topic..a 5g tank would be too small
