rbishop's statement about looking into the mirror was true. Also, since this is your first tank, and your knowledge of fishkeeping is probably limited, visit my member page for lots of links (to helpfull/informative sites that have stayed in my favourites) and a complete newbie article written by me.

Oh, and by the way, age, and expierience has little to no meaning when it comes to actual knowledge. What really matters is research and what you learn from it.

thanks for the help dorkfish and everyone else

good suggestions here..
especially wait till the cycle is finished.

read, read, read, then try to practice what you read.

if you have questions , don't hesitate to ask here..afterall this is the newbie forum.

makesure you do your research on the fish..i see you're interested in cichlids.

a 29 will make a good home to several species..most of them dwarves or a small species.

good luck and have fun..
if you take the time and do the work you will enjoy years of fun and enlightenment

Nate..I did not mean to offend. One of the great myths that exist out there, is/are the stuff people are told that gives them the impression you can buy/add things to make the tank maintenance free.

From what I have seen, people are often mislead that "bottom feeders" and "algae eaters" will keep your tank spotless. But there is a lot of other stuff that falls to the bottom, that the fish just are not going to eat.

You do the water changes to keep the chemistry in spec, and the gravel vac to remove all the bad debri.

Keep asking, your learning.
