I bought a trio of honey gourami yesterday and was really happy with it since i have not seen one for ages ( 10 years is very very long ) and it sadden me to think that i will never get to view them again. Happy to say I was lucky to have spotted them among the dwarf gourami(colisa lalia) which i think they had mistakenly mix 5 of this gourami with them thinking they are the same( In Malaysia most fish shops do not know what fish they are selling anyway....) They are sold to me very cheap too. Hooray!! I choose one very red one which i assumed is a male since the dorsal fin is very long and the chest is cherry red unlike the other four which have short dorsal fin and pale orange chest (more towards white with some light red). The rest of the females' body are quite red too. However when i go online i read and view that honey gouramis are gold or yellowish in colour. Worse still the info on the honey gouramis for females are that they are pale whitish grey or pale green like those of the dwarfs' female. The females im having now is red just that their colouring is not as strong besides the other two factors i had stated above. There are no information on the red variety except for a pic. Can someone help me to identify whether i had brought a male and 2 females? oh ya i more thing the gouramis are 3.5cm from head to tail. I believe they can go until 4cm only. So if anyone know their age please do tell me so.
