I seem to suddenly have hundreds of the little suckers all over my tank. Can't flush them down the toilet, or toss them out, and they grew so fast some are now pea to marble size, so how can I kill them? Gave as many as I could to friends, petstores don't want them, and i can't crush them because they bled all over when I tried, (ewww). or shells won't break. I have a bunch in a bucket for now, but no idea how to kill them. Any ideas? Anybody want some?

Have you tried Craigslist? Aquabid? Or even the Classifieds on this site? You could euthanize them by freezing them but I'm sure people could give them homes. Where are you located?

Put them in a cup of tank water (or bucket water), put the cup in the freezer. As the water gets colder, the snails go to sleep. They will then freeze and die without pain. This is the most humane way.

You can also borrow a loach from your LFS (if yours is anything like mine) to eat the snails for you. Or you could get some assassin snails. Assassin snails don't breed like crazy as other snails do.

Thanks for the guick replies. I live in south Ms. I don't want to buy a fish just to eat snails, so unless someone wants some, they are going in the freezer tonight. I like snails, but when you can't see the fish through the wall of baby snails that is too many. Though I did think about growing some up to eat. My grown snails are pretty big, anyone ever heard of mystery escargo? With garlic butter?

you could always send a handful to me.....

I think plenty of people would pay the shipping to have hundreds of free snails in an area where it's easy to get rid of them. Deffinately better to keep them in the bucket 'til you post an add...
