Guppy-Missing Tail Fin

I think the male guppies must have gotten into a fight. On of the males is missing 95% of his tail fin. He is now seperated into a small glass bowl. Will his fin grow back?
 
A setup that included filtration and heating would be preferable. Provided clean water and a good environment, the fish should be able to regrow it's fin just fine. In less optimal conditions, the risk of a bacterial infection reduces the odds.
 
Thanks, I put some water from the fish tank. It is a small 2 gallon hexagon tank you get at walmart, it has a very very small filter He seems fine. He had the most beautiful fire orange tail :sad

The water from the old tank doesn't provide any biological filtration--if you can take a portion of the filter media from the main tank, or even just some squeezings from the media into the new filter will help. Do daily, small water changes, if nothing else.
 
Thanks, I will squeeze the filter after dinner. Do you think I should have moved him? or was he better off in the main tank?
 
Likely it will be better to have him in a separate tank. Otherwise, the other fish can continue beating up the fish, further stressing him and reducing his odds of a full recovery, increasing the chances of a bacterial infection. With serious injuries, bacterial infections can be lethal, and having the fish in a hospital tank allows more treatment options.
