No worries.

Just remember how much it sucked to find out you had ich in the first place.

Then remember you bought more rock, and how much harder it's going to be to get the fish out this time.

And think of the poor fishies...it'd be like being covered in mosquitos or ticks or something just eating and itching and hurting.

Help? :)

Found my first pest last night...an aeolid nudibranch otherwise known as zoa eating nudibranch. I should have been better about FW dipping them before I put them in the display. So now in the process of doing 5 minute FW dips for a few days. I didn't find any other nudis or their eggsacks today but I did find something else equally as bad.

Beautiful yet bad little sundail snail was wedged in between the polyps pretty tightly.

I have been a bad, bad, BAD girl. I have confessed to being impatient. I pulled out my receipt for when I bought my hospital tank and turned out my dates were a bit off. The 6 week mark would be Wednesday. In the excitment I couldn't control myself (yes I'm making excuses I realize) and whoops, look at who made it out of fishie prison?

Gee, um....how on earth could he have gotten in there? And oh my the gobie is in there too although the MHs switched off before I could snap a photo. Sneaky fish, amazing how they got into the tank huh?

And before you think I'm ALL bad I do have one itty bitty GOOD thing to report. The monti cap frag I got 2 weeks ago became terribly bleached. It was already very pale when I got it (it was free) but it became as white as the superglue. FINALLY tonight I see a glimmer of hope. This is only the edge of one side of it...very difficult to photograph it where it is because the fans blow right on that section of water. It is defintely turning green with a purple edge though:

6 weeks is fine. Parasites like ich will can stay encysted to around 28 days (some just a bit longer)--so actually four weeks or longer would be enough. If you didn't notice anything during 6 weeks, then you are fine.

I was afraid to open this post...I was sure someone was going to bop me over the head. Tell me Amp...from your experience do you think the new color on the monti cap is a good sign? It is in high flow and I do blast stuff off it with a baster. This is the FIRST sign of color I've seen since I got it the 2nd weekend of the month. It was very pale to begin with and then it became very bleached. I'm hoping this is a good sign.

To tell you the truth, it is hard to say. That looks like it should be a red or pink plating Montipora. To me, the edge looks like it has a bit of microalgae growth starting, but the pic makes it a bit difficult to make out. Maybe try shutting off the fans temporarily or something to get a more defined photo.

My son has the fans hard wired and they come on automatically when the MHs come on. I'll try to get a better photo this week when he is home. I do see where it could be algae but if it is, it's hard because it doesn't blast off.
