I recently used frozen food (marine cuisine) to feed my fish, and tried not to put too much in, however it seems like a lot of cloudy liquid goes in that the fish would not be able to eat. A few days later after adding some more fish, my ammonia level shot up to 0.8. Not sure if this was due to the increased fish load, or the uneaten frozen food. Should a filter be used to screen the solids out of the frozen food?

i always wash my frozen foods taht i buy, after its defrosted, in RO water to remove the fine particles, gives you a nice clean food afterwards...i use coffee filters for this...

Enhances the taste of coffee afterwards aswell.......JOKE !!!

I read in an earlier thread about the amount of Phosphate in frozen foods, so did a test and it came out sky high. Now i rinse all my frozen stuff with RO before it goes anywhere near the tank. Tea strainers work a charm even if not ideal lol.
