i would just like to know what kind of fish are best for a ten gallon tank and are easiest to care for...i would like to have at least 2 fish

You have a lot of options... small tetras, livebearers, cories, there are many fish that will do well in a ten gallon. What kind of fish do you like?

The link in my sig has my 10 gallon's specs, it could give you an idea of a possible option (although it probably is a little overstocked).

I am currently starting up a 10 gallon. When all is said and done I hope to have a small school of harlequin rasboras (currently only 3...but I'm cycling), about 3-4 pygmy cories and a single honey gourami. The rasboras don't look nearly as good in pictures as they do in a tank, and often in dealer tanks they are a bit pale. Mine have colored up GREAT and are a pinky/copper color with a vibrant blue-black triangle.

Many of the small tetras (neons, cardinals, glo-lites) could replace the rasboras. Cherry barbs were another that I looked at. They aren't supposed to be nippy like a lot of barbs are. Guppies and platies are active and colorful, but unless you want a million fry, just get males.

I'm still fairly green myself, so if anyone wants to correct any of this, please feel free.

Sounds good to me. :)

I totally agree n the harlequins coloring up. Mine are orange around the outside, and the triangles really vivid.

There are lots of options. The most colourfull fish would probably be platies. A small group would be easy to keep. But I would suggest only females or you could be over run with babies.

A group of small barbs like Cherry Barbs would look nice. As would most of the smaller tetras.

If you wanta bigger fish look into a single Dwarf Gourami, a single betta or a single paradise fish. Then add some bottom feeders liek a small group of cories or else a small group of khulie loaches.

If you want to go for a single species tank...try some shelldwellers....(I know, I recommend them ALOT for 10gallon tanks...lol...but they are a GREAT fish!)

Multifasciatus are the best of the shelldweller species as far as interest and getting along goes. They will form a community and just keep on popping out babies until they have a nice sized group of themselves. They are always digging around and rearanging their tank and are a very personable little fish. The boss male always comes up to the front of the tank when he sees me.....very protective of the brood.

You wouldn't be able to put anything else in with them though...but they hold a whole lot of interest all on their own.
