Just out of curiosity, does anyone else name all their fish, even in a larger tank? My family just rolls their eyes at me and think I'm silly but they are my fishy babies after all. If so, what are your names?

In my tank there is Bomber, Jet, Pepper Jack, Tiny Tim, Casper, Sherlock, Razzle, Dazzle, Memphis, Mojo, Comet, Rex, Pongo, Lily, Blinkin, Bob, Diablo, Dee, Dumb, and Neo. and I still have room for more:screwy:

Ratchet, Lydia, and Guillermo (Memo for short!). <3

I love these threads! I have a sailfin pleco named Sir Pleco Stamos lol....awkward.

I name pretty much all fish, except for ones I can't tell apart from others. I currently have Marlin-Nemo (my male betta) and Nim/Nimrod/Nimmy (my Senegal bichir)Surface, but recently had Anya-Anastasia, Emily-Criminal Minds, Roxanne- just like the name, Artemis, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Apollo, Atlanta, Athena, -Greek, Miles-Surface, Kairi-Kingdom Hearts, and have had in the past, Isadora, Duncan, Klaus, Violet- A Series of Unfortunate Events, Penolope, Jay Jay, Reid, Hotch, Gideon, Morgan- Criminal Minds, Sora, Namine, Roxas,- Kingdom Hearts, Haku- Spirited Away, Pearl, Flo, Crush,- Nemo, Legoloas- Lord of the Rings, among others.

All my fish names normally come from video games, movies, tv shows, or books that I like.

My first fish, when I was 6 was a male blue betta named Blueberry Muffin Sweetie Pie Short Cake Sweetheart Cookie... (I swear, excluding "Blueberry" his name changed every day)

I usually name fish that "grow one me." I had a Dojo Loach named Gandalf growing up, my favorite Angelfish was named "Buffy" (as in "the vampire slayer), and she shared the tank with "John Winchester" the Red Tailed Shark.

Currently, the only named fish I have is "Rory" the Blackskirt Tetra, because he's shrimpy but has survived a massive ich plague that wiped out all my other Doctor's Companions $1 Blackskirts from Petsmart. I'm building back up to a full school (River Song and Amy are in quarantine), and all are going to be named after Doctor Who characters.

i name all my bettas and some of my other fish, but they really need a personality to get a name. my original betta was named Elsie and my new one is named Haqua. both names came from my favorite anime "the world god only knows" im kinda nerdy but w/e. ive been trying to think of a name for my golden gourami but no luck yet. i kinda just have to let the name come to me otherwise it wont stick.

I used to name all my fish, either for their look/personality, or with a name loosely connected to the scientific name.

My first bristlenose pleco was named Worf, for his gnarled looking head. My Red line torpedo barb (Roseline shark) was named "Hot Rod" due to his racing stripe.

My Kenyi cichlid (pseudotropheus lombardoi) is named "Vinnie"... lombardoi is kinda like Lombardi, Vince Lombardi is a foot ball coach, Vinnie is a nickname for Vince. I had an Opaline Gourami AKA Cosby Gourami, which I of course named "Bill".

This went on for about a year as I dove head first into the hobby. However, during the next year when I upgraded to 300+ gallons of tanks stocked to the gills, with several similar looking fish, I lost interest in naming them all. Now I just let my friends name the ones they feel should have names and call it good.
