Well most endlers are peaceful. But I did have one that was simply a SOB. He would chase the other endlers around and tear their fins up. I finally got tired of him and placed him in my 75 community tank. There he began to chase fish around that were 3x his size. I of course have named him Saddam.

You don't have to try to breed endlers... they figure it out all by themselves

lol if you buy a female I can almost guarantee that she will be pregnant when you get her.
I would think 3-5 males in the 5 gallon with a very cautious eye kept on the betta would be a good place to go with it. Endlers are incredibly fast, so the betta is going to have to move at the speed of light to get a good shot at them.
As for food, I found this flake on aquabid and figured I would give it a shot. The endlers LOVE it, along with the multi flake they really do go after the shrimp pellets like mad, it's like a swarm of fish in there when they start in on it. Algae wafers too. And even, of all things, crushed pond snails that I've crushed when I find them on the glass. One of the tanks is a planted 50 gallon breeder and next to the shrimp the crushed snails seem to be their favorite.
They are great little fish! Good luck with them.

I didn't mean I'd have to do anything, I meant the expense of food and tanks to continually be moving babies to! No thank you! And avoiding having babies is specifically why I specified *male* endlers.

(Nothing like putting the food before the fish huh? )Hikari or Nutrafin Livebearer foods are good. The nutrafin one has a lot of whole tubifex worms in it. You should be able to find quality livebearer foods at your local stores. Omega One freshwater flakes are highly regarded but I haven't personally tried them.

As for breeding, it can be easily done in a 10 gallon or bigger. The adults don't eat the babies so I just let them keep coming in my tank. Easy as can be.

Aren't you quickly overpopulated/stocked if you have tons of babies and all the fish just keep multiplying?! Regardless, I don't have space for a 10 gallon (though, thanks to you guys, EVERY SINGLE DAY I look around my room and try to decide where I could squeeze it in Today I even thought of asking for the whole setup for Christmas! See what you guys do to me?! :laugh: ) AUGH. I need to stop considering it and start working on my 5 gallon.

You could get a whisper micro (I think they're called). Or perhaps a Whisper 5-15. They do not cost much at all. I think I payed around $10.00 for mine.

They would go well in a 5 gallon. I have a colony of endlers in a 2 1/2 gallon on my desk and they are happy, thriving and breeding! These guys are hardier IMHO than regular guppies. The males are smaller than regular guppies too. I'd watch out about having a betta with them though. Even though they don't have a regular guppy's flowing tail to worry about, a betta may eat them (I also have a bowl with a betta in it on my desk and extra babies go in there to be dispatched quickly by the betta). I've seen bettas with white clouds or neons at the LFS though in one of those small cube tanks though.
