The subject says it all.

Metro can hamper your beneficial bacteria by a little, but I believe they can colonize back pretty quickly. You have nothing to worry about, if you have a giant colony of them.

Beneficial bacteria ► Metro

I guess my assumption was wrong then. Turbo is right, props.

It's not supposed to, but I lost a whole tank of peacock/haps to a nitrite spike and the only thing I can attribute it to was dosing with metro for a case of bloat . . . lost the whole fri***ing tank. :rant2:

I treated a QT with Fish Zole (metro) because a couple fish showed "flashing." It seems metro didn't destroy the BB.

Treatments ending in "zole" (metronidazole, itroconazole, ketoconazole, etc.) are intended to treat fungus and don't affect bacteria. Learned this when I worked for a vet. :)

Actually, I dont think it is that simple. Metronidazole is considered antibiotic thus it is effective against certain bacteria.
Despite the fact, I have never experienced loss of Beneficial bacteria due to Metro use in many many yrs but it does not mean it can't as certain tank CONDITIONS (every tank water is different) MAY yield different results.
I would pay close attention to water whenever you are medicating with any meds so you can take appropriate actions before further complications develop.
