Hi Everyone
Just a quickie as there seems to be a lot of people on here I'll ask a quick question.........
My Albinos are frantically laying eggs at the moment, 41 was in the tank not long ago (yes I stood there and counted!!!) I went to collect them within the half hour and 3 remained!!!!! I took the hint and fed the fish in the tank and so far managed to collect a further 25-30 eggs and transferred them to another tank. They were a tan colour so I am presuming that they are fertilized. Now there are about another 10 on the glass that have just been laid.....does the male come along and fertilize straight away IE follow the female??? should I wait a while before collecting??? but then risk the chance of them getting eaten?? they have been on glass about 10 min but look clear!!

Some one please help as wee bit confused!!!
Thanks heaps in advance....................

umm. . . . the female collects the sperm from the male and actually does the laying AND fertilizing herself, at the same time.

Cool! And yes, wataugachicken is right, the female collects the sperm and the eggs are fertilized before they are laid. If you can wait an hour or so until the eggs get hard, you have a much lower chance of squishing them as you remove them from the glass.

My cory eggs always start out clearish, then turn tan within a few hours. I wish my pandas would lay on the glass, instead of in the depths of the java fern, where I can't get at them unless I take the fern out! But that probably keeps them from getting eaten. Maybe I should try a spawning mop.

Your cories are really going to town!

Thanks guys, gees you can see that I really understand all this breeding/egg laying lark!!!!!!!! should have paid more attention in Biology!!!! All good now out of the heaps I have collected it's time for the waiting game to start again...I have no idea how many I collected, lost count so fingers crossed.
