DIY backgrounds?

I love the look of (thought out) backgrounds on my aquariums. What I don't like is the generic ones that you find everywhere. I want one no one has. I found a picture of what I want and was thinking of taking it to Kinko's to see if they could enlarge it and laminate it for me. It'll probably cost way more than one you can buy, though. So I thought I'd check here to see if anyone had any ideas.

try a less famous store.. it might i repeat might be cheaper in some simple photo developing store.. theres a guy on ebay selling his amazing backgrounds http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZscentbay

they do look amazing but then again the cost is 2-3x that of a normal background
 
here is a reef base I made a while back

take real logs lay them out and heat cast a plastic mold. Then cast a thorite back ground. Paint with epoxy paint.........cost about 15$
