the sink tank is overstocked.........but its freakin' sweet.
 
In order for the water to flow into the tanks there would have to be air entering into the tunnel to displace the water, as long as the mouths of the tunnels are below the water level, no air can enter in. Now if you drilled a hole in the top of the tunnel, then yes, the water would rush down and overflow the tanks.
 
Like I said, its just like a continous siphon overflow. As long as it doesnt loose its siphon, the water will remain in the channel. Think about it, it is full of water, in order for the water to rush out and overfillthe tank, air must come into it somehow. If both ends are submerged, and it is water tight, how can air enter in? Its similar to sticking your finger over the end of a straw while its in water, then pull it out of the water and the straw remains full. As long as air doesnt come in, water will stay in.
 
how the heck would you clean the connectors?

Yeah it would be a pain. Like I said...
Dont forget you have to clean all that... lol

The square channel can be done with your typical magnetic scraper I would think without too much trouble. What do you mean by 'connectors'?
