I didn't see this personally as i was at work but my parents told me they saw one of my cories (I think it was the Julli cory) sleeping on the intake of my AC300. They said it had its head faced down and belly right on the intake of the filter and it seemed to be sleeping. It stayed there for about an hour then it was elsewhere in the tank.

I wonder if the silly fish was sleeping or it was just stuck.

it was the metae cory. and now hes turning brown? i dunno. whys he turning brown? he used to be white

Fish don't "sleep" on filter intakes, it usually means there is something wrong with them and they are too weak to fight the current and get sucked up like they are a piece of debris in the tank. I would keep an eye on him, maybe put some sponges over your intakes, or best yet get him in a QT tank. What are your water parameters? I would make sure everything is testing ok too

well a few days ago i got my water tested at big als and it was 0 ammonia 0 nitrates. maybe he was just being silly cuz this morning he was sleeping upside down on the surface and then when i started feeding he was going down to eat and hes very active just like the other cories in the tank. maybe hes just a silly cory? I was thinking maybe he was stuck but i wasn't sure cuz i wasn't home when it happened. maybe thats how he turned brown =( poor guy.

Update : Uh maybe its just my eyes but hes starting to turn white again... What a weird little guy. he also likes to rest on the leaves of my amazon swords.

well actually my mom told me today after work that the fish was sleeping on the tube, not the actual intake part. Now i really don't know why hes turning brown!! why does it go light and dark!

of course. I bought it as a used tank with fish living in it and kept all the substrate, decorations and filter media wet during transport. Also I got some gunk from my other filter thats been running for 6months in another tank. Its just a silly fish, its still alive right now and looking for food like all the other cories. The other cories don't do it.

All my cories have different personalities so far i've noticed.

Bronze cory (Stinkie)- had him the longest and hes the one that gets most excited. After eating he gets too happy so he likes to swim in corkscrews up to the surface and splash it.

Julii Cory (Scarie)- one of the new cories but whenever you make sudden movements he gets scared and dashes to hide behind something

Metae Cory (Skunkie) - the one described above. sleeping on tubes, on leaves, upside down on the surface, likes swim with the punctacus cory.

Punctacus Cory (Punkie) - So far i've only noticed hes always looking for food .
Albino Cory (Whitie) - Hes the smallest and is always trying to play in the current of the AC 300 but its too strong for him.

I found him today floating upside down near the bottom... I thought he was dead so i was gonna scoop him out but then when i touched him with the net he turned rightside up and swam away and then started to look for food... I think its just one silly cory. Or maybe when he sleeps he loses all control of his swim bladder lol.

I think you have a sick cory. What are your nitrites?

last I checked before stocking more fish it was 0. got it tested at big als.

Before getting cories i had

2 cardinal tetras
2 rosboras
1 black skirt tetra

then i sold some fish and ended up with
5 cories
2 rosboras

then a few days later i added 4 rams.

It's understocked for a 30gallon breeder and it was cycled so I don't think its the water. the other cories don't act like him
