Cory cats and Oscar

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say the oscar would eat the frog... never tried it tho...

Yeah I think the frogs would be a snack, but still not sure about the cory cats and algee eaters, haven't tried it, just wondering if anyone has. My oscar is still on the young side but about 5 inches I would guess and seems to be pretty easy going in the cichlid tank, my green terror is the one who likes to pick on him and he just kind of shrugs it off lol

i had my striped raphael cat in with 2 oscars that were about 6" and they never picked on him... but then again i know the raphaels have a spikey armor... he was only about 1.5"

I would think Oscars would eat Cories and that it would most likely kill the Oscar too.

cories are perfect snack size for a larger oscar, and they are also spiny enough to get caught in the oscars mouth or throat and kill him. not a good combination if you want everyone (or anyone) to live. larger catfish should be fine unless you see aggression develop. a mean oscar can pluck the eyes right out of the biggest pleco.

my FW aquarium has 2 Oscars and a Cory .....

and Green Tiger Barbs, and several small Pleco's!

.... guppy's and Rosie's are gone quick, fast, and in a hurry!

As a matter of fact - a couple days ago I put a very young Cichlid (1 1/2 inch long) in there also.

Had to discourage the Red Oscar from snacking on it for a little while ... but it is accepted in the tank - it's going on it's third night and still fine!

BUT ....... I feed my fish twice A DAY - when the red goes more than a day without food - he WILL even try to eat the seven inch Bichir!

Oscars are piscivores. What would you expect with cories that are so small and will even fit perfectly in the oscar's mouth?;)

With the right conditioning - it works.
