Has anyone ever heard of hard corals growing in a zero light, high ammonia environment? I'm currently curing some Lalo LR in a cooler with a heater and powerhead in my garage. When it came in the box from Live Aquaria it had a lot of small hard corals growing on it along with some macro algae and soft corals. I expected most of it to die off during curing and then grow a little when I put it in my main tank. So far the corals have been growing(though very slowly) and aren't discoloring at all. They keep scratching my skin when I scrub the rock during 100% water changes. Any comments?

I might be able to post some pictures, but it looks a lot like acropora and maybe some birdsnest coral in there. Of course, I could be wrong, I just don't know of any other hard growth that looks like that and would be growing.

It would be alot easier to tell if you could post some pics!

I'm really not sure what it is. Next 100% water change for curing, I'll try and get some pics of it. Maybe you guys can identify it.
