Hello all- my mystery snails have been breeding, and I was wondering if anyone out there had any experience with how the color combinations mixing between the parents will affect the colors of the babies? Like ivory male with chestnut female (red/brown shell with light foot), ivory male with blue female, black male with blue female, ivory male with black female, and black male with chestnut female? I looked on Applesnail.net already, at the little geneology tool, but, it just isn't really all that comprehensive... I think an answer from someone with experience would be a bit better. If someone could please indulge me with an answer, that would be fantastic. Will the colors mix in their shells, or will I just get some of each color? If they will mix, any idea of what colors I could be expecting from the mixes? Will I possibly get cool combinations like ivory shell with a black foot, or blue shell with an ivory foot? Thanks so much for your time!

"ivory shell with a black foot"
from site ~ Blue - Dark bodied with a shell that ranges from completely white, to semi-transparent, in which case the dark blue-ish black body shines through. The thinner the shell, the more blue the snail looks. Blues with a very thick shell will just appear white shelled with a dark body.

Your welcome!! This site has helped me in the past trying to figure out which colors I have. It's a bit outdated as far as some of the comments say that ivory is rare which nowadays is not the case. I've only met one person who can spout of what types you'd get by cross-breeding colors, shell types, foot colors, etc. and she owns a pet store. So at least this site will give you somewhere to go from!

Absolutely! My babies have since hatched- they are still really, REALLY small, but, from what I am seeing- I definitely have blacks, chestnuts, ivories, blues (all of which are the parent colors), I also may have some golds and jades in there, too... and a couple look like they may even be purple (if not, I have some light footed purple babies I bought growing up in another tank, so, I will have those soon, too. The plan is to cross them with my blues to get purple and blue babies, and hope for some dark footed dark purples, as well.). They're still WAY too small to see any banding coming in, so, I don't know if there are any red striped and etc. I'm guessing it will be another 2+ weeks before it is clear what is all truly there, the ones who will be dark footed are just NOW starting to get some color to their feet- it looks like a nice mix, though. Again, thanks so much for the link! ;)
