I have a 260 gallon aquarium that I just starting to set up. I want to have a planted aquarium, however, I have been looking for a Co2 system that isn't REALLY expensive that will accomodate an aquarium as large as mine. The people at the local aquatic stores that I have gone too keep telling me to purchase multiple units as an alternative. However, I don't really want 2 or 3 Co2 systems hanging off of (or around) my aquarium. I think it would look gaudy. Does anyone know of any Co2 systems out there that I can purchase for a tank of my size?:help:

first decide which plants you want.then work on light requirments(which may cost more than CO2 systems)

if you need CO2 you may need to go with a pressurized system..it would probably be the cheapest in the long run. in the mean time you could try a DIY yeast CO2 ..

I have co2 on my 125. I think you would at least need multiple diffusers, and could run them off one co2 bottle. I have seen mainifolds with multiple bubble counters and needle valves set up. I have a milwaukee regulator/bub counter/solonoid combo. and a redsea co2 diffuser 500. the diffuser works really well, but I think you might need 2 of them. I bought all of my components, except the co2 bottle off ebay. the reg was $80 diffuser was 38. you would need the manifold, and another diffuser..

I do not have any affiliaton with these ebayers. I would ask the ebayer with the 6 unit manifold if he has a 2 or 3 unit available.

Most of what you get in Lfs is overpriced and not so good for a larger Co2 set-up/.Do more research on a pressurized set-up.

100% you would need to go with pressurized as diy on a tank that size is almost impossible to do. And if you could do it the cost would likely surpass that of a pressurized system inside a year or less.

If you have no experience with planted tanks at all, then I would suggest you learn your way up the plant curve by starting with more basic low to moderate light plants.

I bought my 20# tank from a local ice company, but call around and get the best price, stay away from coke or Pepsi as a lot of places will not refill there tanks, look under carbonic gas in your phone book, you will need some control, this one is complete but you can save a bit just make sure thy all have the same fittings, take a look at mine in my signature this is a 210gal tank with about a 100 gal sump, my defuser was home made from a extra power head i put the venturi tube on the intake and aimed the power head at the main pump, this way the bubble's are chopped up twice buy the pump's, and is sent to the main tank out 4 out puts as micro bubbles.
my needle valve
my solenoid note that this one has female threads
i will have to get new pics up as i no longer have the home made bubble counter
