WHAT is the tank size minimum for 5-6 clowns?
Ive seen SO many different tanks sizes listed as minimums lol
Ive seen 20, 30, 40, 55, 75, 80, 125, and 140 gallon minimum tank sizes, seriously, 20 gallons, im not that dumb lol
Would a 125 house these beauties for their lives?

They are fairly slow growers. You can easily start off in a 20 with them and steadily upgrade. The issue develops when you fail to do the upgrade at the optimum time.

The other side of the coin, is folks put them in the big tank, then don't like the "empty" look, add tons more fish and down the road they have a bunch of large fish in an overstocked tank.

The confusion comes because many people think you can get away with continuous upgrades of tanks for a group of Clowns. All anybody is considering is sufficient swimming room and preventing stunting which can stall out their potential normal growth patterns.

Something that gets forgotten is stability. Making big tank moves every so often is always a risky business. Clowns are very sensitive fish both in health-related terms and their mental and emotional well-being. They thrive on stable conditions and not being exposed to constant change.

Here's an idea of a potential type of setup (mine) you'll need. It's better to set up a big tank in the first place because keeping Clowns well is a long-term commitment. Remember they can live around 40 years. That's a few dog's lives right? Think of it that way.

5-6 fully grown adult clowns....min of 150g, ideal of 300g+.

Most people that I know that keep Clown Loaches suggest a minimum of 4 and a 140G+ tank just for those.

I just have YoYos, but man are they active! ;)

6 clown's is a lot. I'd agree, you're going to have to go big or go home. I just received 3 clowns from a buddy that's moving(including his 46g bow). 1 is 3.5" long and two are 4.5" long. At the moment, they are the main thing in the tank, so they are ok. However, I do know that with these fish, even with just 3, a 72 or 110g tank is in my future if I want to keep them.

Thanks for the info everybody. I don't know about 180 gallons, I know 125's are readily available around my area though.
