I have done 30 percent water changes and everything seems okay. i wipe the tank inside and out with cloth but still very cloudy. do i have to do a 50 percent water change clean tank and repeat till it goes away or is there a way to clear the tank and make it crystal clear

I have the same problem. I have 5 tanks, and 4 of them are clear, but my 29 gallon, no matter what I do is always cloudy. (been set up for about 7 months) I'm very interested to see what kind of responses there are.

cloudiness can be caused by many things - bacterial bloom from interrupted cycle or overfeeding, cloudiness from the spoiling food itself, overstocking, too much light (algae bloom), improper filtration or a proper filter that is clogged up or bypassing (not maintained), cloudy tap water, dirty substrate, sand or gravel that wasn't rinsed enough before adding, medications, etc.

make sure your filter is working properly. upgrade if necessary. add carbon. do bigger water changes more often. be careful about feeding. make sure your tank size is suitable for the fish you have. gravel vac every time you do a water change. invest in a diatom filter which polishes the water.

similar to a science experiment, i'll get to the root of this problem. I'll first buy DI water and do 2 water changes to see if the water clears up. If that doesnt work i have deduced its not the tap

What's your substrate? is this a new problem or something just just developed? I tried using crushed coral once and, even after washing it thoroughly, it never settled to clear.

the fish are happy as ever and doing great its just something real lame i'm sure causing such a slight cloudiness that is more of a nuissance instead of a "health" risk. substrate is gravel and i vacuum it hard. i dont even have real plants in there either. Ill try to see what cures this and repost and help others
