So the Betta in the 15 gallon died. My sonm wants another Betta but I find them boring.

Whats a good centerpiece fish for a 15 gallon planted tank with a ton of cherry shrimp and as it stands 3 kuhlis and 2 cories. I'll probably move the cories to the 55 since I have 6 in that tank and add more kuhlis to the 15 gallon tank.

I know I could add a small school of neons or some other small fish but I think he likes to have 1 he can recognize and name.

So what fits with what I have?

Wow your not taking care of your betta right OR entertaining him enough. Bettas are extremely interesting and entertaining. They are the complete opposite of boring!

Sorry don't remember asking for opinions of if a Betta is boring or not.

It's all a matter of opinion. I certainly find different fish "boring" when other people thoroughly enjoy them...goldfish come to mind.

Possibly a pair/small group of honey gouramis?

Have a pair of Honeys in the 55 gallon.

i think you could do a German/Bolivian Ram. No idea on how they'd do with shrimp though. If they aren't compatible then I'd go with a Dwaf Gourami. Some will say they will eat shrimp, but Bettas are suppose to eat shrimp too, and you didn't mention that being a problem. My Dwarf Gourami spent a month with 5 RCS and didn't eat any. I swapped the DG for a Betta, and he hasn't eaten any shrimp either.

Peacock gudgeons are pretty.
I've heard a lot of the new freshwater gobies are really fun to watch, hoping around and all. I think Mgamer has some new Stiphodon for sale.
Maybe a trio of guppies? There are some super pretty varieties, and you could try your hand at breeding.

why not try a molly, or a sailfin molly. They are pretty good fish, easy to take care of, and fun to watch, especially the sailfin ones.

Definately go with more kuhlii's. i have five in my 46 bowfront, and they are excellent fish.

Just five? I have seven in my 37 gallon. :grinyes:

They're like neon tetras in terms of bio-load. Get more!:dance2:

Rams would definitely eat any shrimp they can get a hold of. Mollies get too large for a 15 gallon IMHO.

Peacock gudgeons would be sweet but might make it too bottom heavy? Maybe balance it with some small tetras like embers or something then.
