I have two angelfish in my 36 gallon bowfront along with 6 sterbais and 1 BN pleco. All of the fish are small and nowhere near being fully grown. The Angels are only 2 in. high still. With this mix, can I add 12 Blue Emperor Tetras so they grow up with the Angels and will be considered family, or will the Angels eat them someday? Just so you know, I'm overstocking a little because I am over filtering quite a bit too.

Sounds fine to me. Emperor tetras are gorgeous. Nice choice!

Depends on your angels to some degree. A quick google finds a mention that blue emperors are "timid" when kept with aggressive fish, and angels can certainly be that. You've had these for awhile and know their behavior but keep in mind this can change as they get older and move into breeding stage.

Plus your other challenge may be finding some. Only place I saw (admittedly a brief look) that had them for sale was in the UK. If you have a local or know supplier then go for it. They are attractive fish and you never know till you try. :)

You'll be fine. My black emperor tetra held his own when he was with my lamp eyes and koi angel pair.

Okay, because my angels never bother each other or my other fish. They seem to be "placid" angels. Also, my local LFS has them all the time and they look very cool!

from my experience emperors are very inquisitive fish,
so they may nip at an angle appendage once or twice,
then realize it's part of a fish, not food, then more on.

anyone who has ever stuck his arm into a
tank full of emperors knows what I mean...

I have Emporers with angles----no problem.

Well, these are Blue Emperor Tetras and only get up to 1.6 inches long, while emperor tetras get up to 3 inches long. Will they still be okay?

The smaller "Emperor" are the Kerri and the Larger are Palmeri.

IMO--They are both very peaceful I have had both before. Currently I have the Palmeri---IMO the better looking of the two. They do grow larger then the average tetra (Cardinals, ect). So a bigger tank is prefered (75gal+). I have a dozen and they are beautiful!!! They are almost the size of my angels.

Well, I think blues fall under Kerri, so would they still be okay?
