Bulbs at wall-mart?

did your bulbs get really.... fuzzy? Mine are both really fuzzy! Is that normal?

funny you guys should mention that.....Since I put the lily bulbs in, I have been noticing these ultra fine particles floating around...I'ts not a bacteria bloom, but visible particles, I was thinking, my filter isn't working efficiently, I replaced the filter pad, and nothing. Only today, did put two and two together, I noticed the fuzz on the bulbs, shook it a bit, and a TON of fuzz and little particles came off, so I removed them. I took one of them apart, out of curiousity, and it was all moldy and stinky, and gross on the inside....threw that one out. I took the other one apart, and it looked ok, so I just have it sitting in a cup of water, where it can get some sunlight. The aponogeton bulbs are putting off a little bit of junk, but not bad, and they're starting to sprout, so I'm keeping those ones in. The fish would pick at the lily bulbs, too, which scattered the mess even more, so they had to go. My water has been slowly clearing up.

So, the ones that sprouted never got fuzzy?

This is my floating bulb... the magnet cleaner is holding it in the sun and the green leaf is just floating nearby... not part of the bulb. This one is also fuzzy, as you may be able to tell.

I removed the lily bulbs before they had the chance to sprout...the aponogeton bulbs just started so sprout yesterday. They did not get fuzzy, but if touched, a little crust from the bulb will fragment off of them, but they're not clouding up the water like the others.

Ok, it is not suppose to look like that. I think your bulb got some mold on it.

ok i just bought sum bulb at walmart and i put in there when it start sprouting 1 week 2 week. when?

at least two weeks in my experience, longer for the lilys.

So two of my bulbs sprouted at the beginning of the week and I kid you not, they're growing like crazy. One is already about 2 inches tall. I leave for work in the morning and when I get back home at night after work/errands/visits/etc. they've grown. These little things are kind of creepy!

If you get a good batch they will grow very quickly. I have a tank with just the bulbs from Walters World and my tank floor is covered. I think only one didn't sprout.
