sorry to hear about your luck, but i really hope you are successful as I want to know it is possible as I want to do this one day as well...my cichlids are much easier to spawn at the moment, so just going to stick with them for the time being...
Thanks for the well wishes, eventually if I keep at it, I'll succeed. ATM I've shifted my focus onto my glowlight tetras. It just seemed like no matter what I did my neons were showing very little signs of wanting to spawn. My glowlights on the other hand seem like they're ready to burst! (i.e. females are gravid with eggs) so I think I'll give my glowlights a chance to give me some solid experience before I try my neons again. In the meanwhile I've made some changes to my set up, I've decided to use a bare bottom conditioning tank, since I'm feeding my fish a lot more frequently with live & frozen foods it just makes it easier to clean up left overs, also makes it easier to catch & move fish from the conditioning tank over to the "spawning tank". I've still got my little planted 10g tank, but it's just housing plants & snails for now.
Good luck with your cichlids, what type of cichlids are spawning for you? I know what you mean about cichlids being easier to spawn. I once had a pair of convicts spawn for me multiple times in a 4 - 6 month span, a single pair resulted in about 100 convicts that made it to adult hood, I was giving away convicts like they were going out of fashion lol.
What ever happened with your glowlights?? I know you said you got eggs from them twice I believe & I know the 1st time resulted in no fry, but what about the 2nd time?
