Would a male betta get along with a small group of Pristella Tetra? My school is selling bettas and I want to save one from a horrible fate of being forgotten on someone's shelf, but I'm not sure if he'd get along with the fish I already have?
How many tetras do you have? I just learned that sometimes the tetra actually pick on the bettas, and nip the fins. Apparently the more tetras you have the less chance there is of this happening, because the tetras are occupied with each other.
I rescued a sickly-looking Betta, QT'd him, and put him in my big tank. Lots of Pristellas, no hassles. If anything, I had to worry about the 3 ghost shrimp trying to latch onto him flowing finnage for a quick bite.
Pristellas seem very peaceful. The Serpae Tetras in my wife's 38g tank were fin-nippy, for sure.
have a backup plan ready in case they don't get along, but I know a couple people who keep a betta with pristellas in a 10 gallon aquarium and have no problems. make sure the betta has his own territory where he can hide to get way from the tetras and you should be ok. but like i said, have a backup plan just in case.
