I've just recently started keeping cichlids. I have 4 German Red peacocks, and 7 yellow labs. I've been feeding them the omega one super color flake. Is there anything better to feed them and also where can I buy this food in bulk? Thanks

I feed my fish Captain Bob's S.O.S. Six Color Flake. I think it's better.

There is no one "best" food, particularly when you're talking about two species of fish that eat such different diets as yours. For your Peacocks Mysis Shrimp would get my nod, although variety is always a good idea except in the case of obligate feeders. For your Labs Nori sheets or better yet algae covered rocks is the ticket.

lol for my mixed africans i go to the garden and get some common earth worms and clean em up cut em up and drop em in and they go nuts absoluetly love em but i just feed mine regular tropical flake and dry and frozen blood worms

We feed our flowerhorn, blood parrots, and rainbow cichlids Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold :)

Thanks for all the information! It looks like everyone has their favorite's. That tell's me that the cichlids will thrive on many different types of food. Now about buying food in bulk, any ideas?

Obviously a varied diet is the bet, but my for my SA/CA cichlids, I have to say Hikari Gold is the best.
