Bamboo Shrimp? Considering...

I saw a tank of bamboo shrimp at the local Petco yesterday. Boy were they cool looking. I have some room in my 29 gallon tank (see signature) and was wondering if the bamboo shrimp would be compatible in that tank.

Also, any special needs I should know about. I haven't really kept shrimp before.

The tank is not planted with live plants. Would that cause a problem? The tank at Petco had lots of bamboo in it.
 
That tank looks to me like a good choice for a bamboo shrimp or two.

They don't require special needs, nor live plants.

They are fan filtering shrimp. I believe they feed by the filter flow plucking up any small organisms they can snatch up. They do not breed in freshwater. I would get one but they are to pricey in my area around $10 :/. Live plants are always great in any aquarium, just make sure to get the right ones. There are plenty of low-light plants to choose from.

I read that they like to have a perch near the outflow, as that is where they use their fans to get food from the water.

One of my concerns is that I don't want him to hide all of the time. I already have 2 upside-down catfish that I only see during water changes.
