I'm not sure what you mean by saving folks?
I'm also not trying to get anything cheap. this thing cost $600.00 for the kit.
600$?
Saving folks?
Enough said.
I've also read numerous reports that say that the magnetic selenoids are prone to overheating and failing.
Not if you get a good one, how long did you say this was guaranteed for again?? 3 years? How long do typical solenoids with the 10,000's of thousand being used last?
This is electronic and also prone to failure, I do not think there is going to be any difference once you add the stat's in comparable terms.
So, once again, i'm not really sure what you are saying.
Again I'm just looking for positive or negative reports on people who have used the aquariumplants.com electronic regulator.
Not trying to start a pissing match over who can build a regulator off of great parts you compile from around the globe.
I'm stating that you have not avoided the issues and you also spent 600$ on something that most in our club have done for 100$ or so, maybe 200$ for a pre made etc unit.
As far a dumps, the dual stage addresses that, so this is not even a selling point. I also know quite a bit about CO2 and the equipment in general. I have clients with mass flow controllers, all sorts of pricy things. They are obsessed. Here's the Alicat mass flow controller:

But a decent solenoid should not fail, these run 50-100$ range and cannot clog. The cheaper Clippards have and do, but many use them for decades without issues also.
Ebay dual stage AGA cost me 35$, the ideal valve is the best around, 60$, a good solenoid was around 40$ on surplus ebay stuff.
This is a lot different than 600$.
Not many folks would use CO2 is that was the only option.
So are you really getting something for this 3-5X more cost?
I think that's a tough argument to make.
If you already bought it, why ask good/bad opinions now?
You are stuck with it.
I'm trying to help others avoid spending this much on something they can put together. I can also buy Seachem ferts, or use the raw ferts for pennies. Again, it's your $, but it's hardly a good deal.
Still, the product seems fine, but just not for 600$, it's your $. That's my point.
