can i put angels in my 29g community tank?

tankmates:

rainbow shark
gourami
5 small tettras
cory cats
SAEs
ottos

Well, truthfully, you shouldn't. They get large quickly. And, if you put more than one in and it winds up being a mated pair, they'll brutalize the other fish in the tank if they begin to lay eggs. It's just not a good idea, IMO. But, look at the dwarf gouramis...they aren't angels but they are decent sixed fish that is very beautiful that you can keep.

I have one in my 20 long (was a 29g before it started leaking) and I don't see any issue with your stocking EXCEPT for that shark and gourami.

Essentially, if you want a community, that shark has got to go. If you want an angel, both the shark and gourami has to go. my 2c worth.

Angelfish are cichlids and often have the temperament to match. IME - They are semi-aggressive and not suitable for a community tank. They will try to bully any other fish that it can. I have to keep mine with tigerbarbs and serape tetras due to the aggressiveness. I never thought it would work but it has worked out and the tank hostilities have calmed down as a result.

What species are your tetras and gouramis? Only fish that I would not keep with angels are rainbow sharks and possibly gouramis if confirmed to be one of the more aggressive species. As for tetras, if they are deep bodied, they'll be fine although I do not suggest keeping serpaes or anything else with notorious nippy behavior with them.

It better be a tuff community.the gouramis will be ok they fight back.the cory cats will be fine.the rest may be snack food.a breeding pair of angels needs at lest a 29GL tank so keep that in mind. When stocking

using terms such as "a small gourami" or "a small tetra" is completely useless, and you might as well avoid even asking the question TBH

there are hundreds if not thousands of different species that could fall into one of those vague discriptions

when you ask a stocking question.. please be more specific as to the type of fish you have/want

i would worry more about the RTS then a angel. the RTS will be more aggressive then the angels.

as long as there is place to hide i disagree. i have a angel in my 85 community never had any problems.

I agree with mgamer, IME they have been good community fish as long as there is hiding places for the smaller. The only concern I would have is your "small" tetras, are they neons? Any fish that is small enough to fit in an angels mouth will more than likely become dinner.
