Albino kuhli loaches?

To answer the original question, they're not easily obtainable.

I think we can conclude that the OP's tank is not big enough, both because it was described as "small with a female betta" and his/her refusal to reveal the tank size.

:iagree:

Why refuse to say your tank size? What's so bad about it? It's not like your confessing to murder or something :headshake2:

The subject of my topic is the availability of albino kuhli loaches.
It is not just availability. Consider the tank size before you buy your fish. The rest are clamoring for the tank size because they are concerned with your fish. There is no problem answering that. It's quite simple.

I agree with H3D, they are very rare. If you happen to spot them, get them as quickly as possible. I haven't seen any albino kuhli loaches here during the two years that I have been in the hobby.

Would the rarity of the albino kuhli loach be comparable to the long-fin white cloud mountain minnows aka meteor minnows? I would say no since I think the meteor minnows aren't available anymore. It differs from place to place regarding the availability of those varieties of loaches but they are rare.

Thanks some of you for actually being on topic instead of imediately changing the subject...I guess it's a good thing I didn't hold out for them since they are so rare.

Now if it were possible, I'd clean up this thread and move unrelated comments to a another thread discussing the tank size of kuhli loaches, like my other topic.

There was no problem with telling us the size of the tank. Kuhlis are too large (4") and too active for a 10g. A (FILLED) 20g is the minimum for them. This is why we asked. Because the tank is too small. :headshake2:

If you ask about fish, and say you're putting these medium-sized fish in a small tank, expect questions. We were asking for the health of the fish. We wern't hijacking or insulting you.

The subject of tank size has nothing to do with the OP question please keep all answers on topic or refrain from commenting.

Albino kuhlis are very rare indeed. I have seen pictures of them posted on a Singapore-based forum but never seen them in the flesh. I do know that they will command a premium price.
Tank size is of relevance because "kuhli" covers a multitude of species and there's quite a disparity in adult size. A 20 long is ok for a small group of something like Pangio cuneovirgata but for P. myersi you should be thinking of a 30 long as a minimum.
It happens that the only albino kuhlis I've seen pictures of were P. myersi so the larger tank size would apply. Generally, the more room they have and the more you have, the happier they will be. You can mix species with no problem too.

Martin.
