i just recently got 2 blue gouramis for my 20 gallon tank. already with 2 cherry barbs 3 neon tetras and 2 plecos. now the one gourami has killed all 3 of my neon tetras and now keeps attacking one of the cherry barbs and even the other gourami. it seems to keep nipping the fins all most of my fish until they die. is there any way of lower this gouramis aggression because its harrassing everything it sees. help would be aapreciated.

Take her advice aquariumhobyist you aren't going to make that fish any less agressive no matter what you might try, and while your figuring that out your other fish are paying the price.
 
you can keep your blue gourami fish... but just get fish that are of similar size and temperament.... if you wanted to keep the fish that you had, also I thought you needed atleast a 40gallon tank for a pair of blue gouramies?.... you should have gotten a pair of dwarf gourami's... they are very peaceful fish... and two would have fit nicely in your 20 gallon... I have a pair of them in my tank... and I havn't gotten any problems with them at all... they are very beautiful fish!
 
I was reading in an article that if you keep a blue gourami on its own its more aggressive than pairing it with a female which will clam it down. and yes maybe i should consider getting some dwarf gouramis instead. thanks for the advice.

I think she was referring to the plecos, not the gouramis ;) !! The common pleco, which is what most people get sent home with from the LFS can get around 2 feet long
