Hey everyone looking for a light for 40 gallon breeder. No c02 low light level plants ( Java water fern Anubis’s). Right now I have a 29 gallon long tank. Current light is a nicrew light 16 inches in length . I took a picture of my 29 gallon tank and the light that is on it. No algae no problems. I will be upgrading to the 40. Was looking at the hygger light you see in pictureIMG_0291.jpeg

If you are happy with the way your plants are growing now and want to do the same thing then get the same light but 3 feet long to light the whole tank

If you want to grow more difficult plants then look for the same sort of light but with higher output

Maybe a built in timer and dimmer would help.

RGB control can be useful if you want better control of the color rendition (balance the amount of red or green etc)

You don't mention a budget, I'm a fan of the Fluval planted light if you want to delve deeper into plants for now .

I don't have any specific experience with your posted light but maybe an older version and it's over a 40 breeder too.. it grows a good number of plants well, and not my h algae (BBA for what it's worth) so you may well be fine with this one

I was looking at these two

I would personally go for the hygger of the 2.

I think it gives better color rendition so looks more natural, it's also the full width of the aquarium so will give better coverage .

If I was going to go with nicrew, I would go with something like https://a.co/d/1akC2Qi which looks to be the same price for me but has better color as well (I think I have similar on a teeny little 8g tank)

Unfortunately buying from Amazon doesn't let you see how they work beforehand. Not sure if you can see them anywhere in person first
