29g tank stopping redux

Neons would be more comfortable in the temp ranges that the cpd would prefer. Cpd and cardinals are pretty far apart in ideal temp preferences.

I was trying to research this... and read mostly that cardinals 74-82 and CPD 72-80, neons 68-79? Seems very close together...

CPD are from mountainous regions, and thus would be much more comfortable at the lower end of the listed ranges, especially long term. Cardinals, on the other hand, may be able to take lower temperatures, but would ultimately be less happy in them than neons. IMO neons would be a closer match to the cpd's preferred needs.

Well, now I'm feeling bad that I have CPDs here in Hawaii. Water temp doesn't get lower than 75, usually around 80.

Wow, and I was worried about 5 degree temp fluctuations!

Hm, "95F" they're referring to ambient temp, right? The water was probably cooler than that...

Yep, I'm sure it was, but I've seen pics of them in their natural habitat in VERY shallow streams. So the water temp would get up there. But yes, it looks like there's some major temp adapting going on regardless. Which isn't to say we shouldn't try hard to keep them in a comfortable range, but rather just that they are adaptable little creatures. PH is 7.3 in natural habitat.
