It's not suitable for anoles or FBTs (not enough land for the toads and WAAAAAY too much water for the anoles), unfortunately. I don't know about the crabs. It might be ok for FBNs, I've never kept those newts and don't know exactly what kind of land water ratio they need. I do know that with newts that land to water preference generally varies by the individual and can sometimes varry by life stage and season.

You could do a rough skinned newt (T. granulosa) in that setup without having to modify it much at all. You'd just have to add a couple of hides to the land and in the water. Mine is almost entirely aquatic and so fun! They have lots of personality.

Not to be a jerk or anything, but this kind of thing is why you should pick the animal before designing your setup.

The water section isn't big enough for FBNs either.

I saw this thing which you can put on top of a 10G which is basically another 10g on top but has a screen instead of glass. It might make it possible to house anoles in my tank.

I actually did decide my stock in the beginning. It was the dwarf shrimps and the carnivorous plants. I was just wondering what animals I could keep in my tank.

i think they would be okay,maybe add a moss carpet or something for them to climb around on,and they do breath air,and the water is filtered so i think they should be fine. im thinking about doing like and hob filter waterfall/stream,but im not sure how.....

I just don't like the way FBTs look. I'm not sure why they wouldn't be okay since it's really half land and half water.

My initial plan was to build a waterfall with HOB filter but since the water was so low, it could barely suck up the water and I tried and tried and tried and it wouldn't go up. I'd recommend a whisper 10i or something similar.

Pretty good actually. I basically spilled the whole tube on the corners so they'll hold up. The pressure of the water is pushing against the peats.

Fire bellied TOADS are not mostly aquatic. They are about half and half. Fire bellied NEWTS can be mostly aquatic. Just wanted to clarify a bit.

I have one of those screen toppers on my bahama anole tank it works well. I did a faux background around the back and sides so they had plenty to climb on. If you go that route, just be sure to put more branches and stuff down into the water. They don't have to be big, just enough so that the anoles don't drown. Generally anoles are kept in straight terrariums and water via a drip system or misting. They don't live near water really in the wild, and can't swim a lick, at least not Green anoles. Some other types are a little better at swimming. If you go with a topper and end up with baby or juvie anoles, just make sure they can't fit through the screen (mine has large holes, rather than small, and juvies could surely escape it!). You can always wrap the topper with finer screen to prevent escapes if necessary.

Are you interested in frogs at all? Tree frogs would do nicely in the tank with added branches and a topper as well. Alot of them (esp native N. American sp) stay small.

I have a lot of driftwood near the water (if you looked at the pics). I know that they can't swim well that's why I got the driftwood in the first place hoping they'll get be able to grab on and stuff.

I don't think I'll get an anole, just because I don't think it'll be good for them at the end, at least not right. I might modify the tank later on but not now.

Frogs scare me. I have interest in dart frogs but that's it. Fire Bellied Toads I'm slowly liking, but I don't wanna return them later on because I dont' like them.

The green anoles and bahama anoles in florida live right next to the water. (They also live miles away too). They aren't amazing swimmers, so maybe it would be best to provide a "canopy" over the water section. This could be a shelf above it, and then planted with plants so It looks more natural....

I like the idea of tree frogs a lot, green tree frogs coexist with green and bahama anoles just fine. Can't wait to see the tank with animals!

I found a local source for Vampire Crabs. I'm so excited. I'll most likely get 3 and possibly breed them but that's not as important.
