They will if given the opportunity. Typical for several species to eat their fry.

There is always exception in almost everything. A lot of cichlids are great parents although there are a few cases where the parents would suddenly eat their fry without any explanation. Don't worry about it. Yellow labs usually are great parents along with several other mbunas. Livebearers, on another note, do not take care of their fry. The fry are left to fend for themselves in the wild.
