So far, so good with the trigger! :) It eats a good variety of krill, dried seaweed, shrimp pellets, and vegetables. It likes to come to the glass when people are watching the tank :) All of the inverts are still there, and no fish appear to have issues, the trigger actually appears pretty timid.

An update...
I am still doing my water changes, equipment is running well, I got some new media for the AC110 and the Biowheel. I am still battling algae :( the nasty bubble algae seems to have gone away mostly, but I have some hair algae. The corals are all doing just fine, and have grown a lot! For fish... The trigger is getting along :) the foxface has fattened up, the clown is still near his favorite cave with the shrimp, and the mosquitofish are still alive! We went on the Florida vacation, and since then no signs of the chromis, so I took apart the tank looking for it, but didn't find anything... It was about then that I started to see higher nitrates, and more algae. Overall I think the tank is doing fine, and is about to get some more money put into it after I set up my 40 gallon freshwater. Pictures will be up tomorrow after my track meet. :)

Glad things are going well. Whenever you tear a tank a part, you stand the chance of stirring up crud that leads to nitrates which leads to algae outbreaks. Start using a phosphate media like phosban or rowaphos and/or buy yourself an urchin (check compatibility with the trigger). Don't overdo it with these medias though as too much can shock the system a bit. The urchin will not solve the problem but it will keep the algae under control.

Would a few dozen nassuarus snails help with algae? I've seen them sold by the dozen on eBay, but not sure if it would be worth it.

Nassarius don't eat algae. They only come out for meaty foods. Emerald crabs will usually eat bubble algae don't think many snails will touch it.

Oh, ok... Good thing I knew that :) I might invest in some hermit crabs then(the smaller ones this time), I already have a few emerald crabs, but might get another.

IME so far, the trigger is 100% reef safe. I keep it nice and fat with lots of omnivorous foods. I have not noticed any missing invertebrates either. I just want to let possible Niger triggerfish owners that I like mine so far.

Nasarius are great for keeping the sand bed stirred up, but diet wise they eat any meaty leftovers that make it to the bottom, in a way that helps prevent algae but they wont directly eat it.

What are you mostly battling GHA? A couple turbo snails could help clean that up.

Just went to the LFS! I got 10 blue and 10 red legged hermit crabs for $20. :) I also got a nice small zoanthid colony, and my mom got a two headed frogspawn... Any tips/suggestions for the frogspawn? While I was there I also got some more dry rock. ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1367792690.540814.jpg

The shrimp was out of his cave, and hiding near the back of the tank, that's why it looks small compared to the powerhead.
