One of my guppies recently died due to columnaris (saddleback disease); he had the white "saddle" on his middle section. I heard that salt can get rid of the disease when used with other medicines, but I know that it can be dangerous to snails and otocinclus, which I have in the same tank as the guppies. The only other tank I have is an empty 6 gallon. Is there any way to treat the otocinclus without moving them to a different tank? I would be fine with moving the snails because I can quarantine them in the small tank, but I don't want to keep the otocinclus in a small tank for long. How much salt can otocinclus catfish tolerate?
