I got a new yoyo loach a bit ago to take care of a snail problem in my 10 gallon along with a blue gourami. The snails were cleaned out in about a day, and I had a fat and happy loach. When it ran out of snails, it began trying to swim into my power filter. It was actually really funny to watch, like a salmon swimming upstream, but I was kinda worried about it. I noticed that in the bigger 55 gallon tank (where the snails were accidentally transferred from) the snails seem to colonize inside of the filter behind the pads. There was never a problem with them actually IN the tank though. Maybe it knew that they were in the filter? It has recently stopped trying, but I was just wondering if this is natural behavior?

ah my first, and one of my favorate fish. I just started with 2 1" ones after loosing my 4". they bost do that with the filter and the power head. they are intelligent, but i don't think they knoiw snails are in your filter. they just like the challenge. onces of twice the smaller wassucked onto the filter but we got him off and he got smart.

My zebra loach kept swimming into my filter when I first got him. He eventually stopped doing it. It helped that I got him some friends since loaches do best in groups of at least 3. Are you going to move your yo-yo loach to a bigger tank some day? They are very, very active fish and can grow 4 to 6" so should be in a 3 or 4 foot tank, especially since you should get at least 3.

Yes. After I buy the 150 gallon I'm planning on getting, I'm going to buy a few more and transfer them to my 55 gallon.
