i have one big convict cichlid all alone and in my other tank i was thinking of getting a breeding pair of pink convicts. i know convicts breed fast so would the big black convict eat the pink convicts babies when i put them in the tank, or would the male black convict adopt the babies as his own.

If the fry are smal enough, they're food. If not food, they're invading his turf. Having a sufficient number of them will likely cause too much confusion for him to trash any particular fry, but it won't be a happy little family.

Convicts do not adopt. They will protect their own only and anything else becomes food. Color has nothing to do with it.

Pink cons are especially aggressive. More than any other fish twice it's size. Pink convicts have been known to go after other fish 4X their size and win. They can hold their own against a full-grown Oscar and similar.
