I was interested in a wolf fish for a 90 gal. Are they legal in Michigan, if so would I be able to house it with tankmates such as piranhas, pike cichlid or any other fish?

they are best kept alone
you can try keeping him with very large robust fish, im not sure a pike cichlid is a good tank mate for a wolf, being they arent so bulky.
one thing about them is that they are escape artists. they will crawl out of spaces you didnt even know you had. i found mine on the floor one morning, he was all dried up. he made it a pretty good distance too. the tank was tightly covered but he found his way up through the filters cut out in the hood, it was such a small space but he made it out :(

You may be able to try keeping it with Hydrocynus Tigerfish.

Hydrocynus are shoaling open water fish that go well in a PH of 7.2-7.5. Wolfish like Hoplias malabaricus are ambush predators who tend to stay out of the picture.

Providing they are of similar stature you could well find a peaceful mix.
