I know my guppies are going to breed, and i do want them too, but I don't know how to protect the babies!

Will they eat their fry like the mollies do?

(FYI: Its a tank with ONLY guppies + one algae eater..)

yes they will. remove the large guppys as soon as there are fry. if you cant then get some full leafed plant that the fry can hide in.

my guppy had fry a few days ago and she is massive, biggest guppy i've ever seen she had about 25 fry i think. I took them all out but then after a day i decided i'd just stick them back in cuz the environment in the tank was better. Even though it may be dangerous the filtration and o2 levels were a lot better. I think a few may have got eaten but most of them hid in the java moss, hornwort and even the bigger leafed plants. The adults seemed to have less interest in them if you feed them well.

You could put the pregnant female guppy in her own tank with lots of plants especially java moss so the babies can hide in it.Then when she looks like she is done remove her back to the orginal tank. Then you can just leave the fry in the tank and raise then there. Or you could purchase a breeding net or trap and you could also raise them (babies/fry) there if you want.
