Dojos are a sub-tropical fish and as such do better at cooler temperatures in the long term. They will survive higher temperatures but seem more open to diseases and infection at such temperatures, so it must be assumed that living at these temps degrades their immune system efficiency.
They are a highly adaptable species and escapes from fish farms (they're used as a food fish) have invaded many countries successfully...... unfortunately for local fauna.
we have kept ours in a 78 degree tank for about 2 years and he has never shown any signs of illness at all. he's about 10 inches long and an inch in diameter.. so he seems reasonably healthy.
so yes, they can live and sometimes do well in warmer water... but it will cut down on their life expectancy.
I've got a goldfish tank set up now that will make a good future home.
