I just deployed an army of Amano shrimp to tackle my small hair algae problem and plan on getting a pair of angelfish in a month or two. Please tell me the Angels will ignore the Amanos, because those suckers are not cheap.

It is a 55g and the Amanos primarily hang out in a piece of driftwood and occaisonally come out for a stroll to eat.

OTher fish in the tank are a school of Cardinals, Corys, and Ottos.

Thanks,
Justin

depending on the size of your angels - they might try to eat them because they certainly fall under the category of prey - but i don't think they'll be able to catch them because they can dart away so quickly - faster bottom feeding fish like a pictus cat woul be more of a concern - i woul try only keeping a few at first see how it goes - i woul say if they can catch them then yes tbhey will eat them but it's prob 50/50 type thing

I have 1 angel in my tank(heavily planted). I thought it would be cool to get some amano shrimp but due tot he fact they are so expensive i got 10 ghost shrimp to test it out first. Well let me tell you the angel ate the all that night. I tried it again but added the shrimp at night and rightinto the plants. The next day i couldnt' find any and i actually caught the angelfish hunting(looking in the plants) and eating some.

I would say if you dont' want your amanos eaten take them out or don't add the angel, they will get eaten.

If they have a place to hide the amanos will avoid predation for awhile. But speaking from experience, the angels will eventually get them.

And as for angels being slow, well I've seen them dart across a tank and make short work of a neon before the neon knew what hit it, so if that's slow....yikes!
