Hi all,

I'm interested in assembling a 6-foot long setup. Standard 125 gallon tanks (72x18x20) seem to be widely available, but I think my needs would be met with something vertically shorter, say, 17 or 18" tall. This tank would be placed in a third-floor apartment, so the extra 250 lbs of savings in glass and water weight is something that interests me.

I see 100 gallon long tank references here and there in posters' setups yet can't find any manufacturer that makes a standard tank in such dimensions. I'm looking for glass rather than acrylic.. I'm located in the central Florida area. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Check out Glasscages.com they have a 100 gallon long which is 72x18x17

They seem to be the only site that I've turned up in my searches... unfortunately, some threads here and there suggest that they can be a bit lacking when it comes to workmanship and customer service. I've been wondering if I've missed other competing smaller manufacturers who may offer a similar wide range of sizes.

Contact some custom shops in your area.

PM Glasman here at Aquaria Central, if you're any where close to Kentucky. He builds really cool frameless tanks. With the shorter dimensions he can stick with 1/4" sides and save a bunch of weight and money. He has pics of some of his tanks posted here.

Wow, his tanks do look very nice... unfortunately, I'm 1000 miles away so its not terribly practical :(.

I thought perhaps I was just missing something since 72x18x18 is listed by many references as a "standard" size yet Aqueon/Perfecto don't carry them.
