Hi everyone! ill be making my way to the better LFS tomarrow to get some weather loaches for my goldfish tank. Can someone give me the needs of this loach? ive heard about placing PVC pipes in the tank, but i'm unsure of this. Also, what do they eat?

would white cloud minnows be good in this tank?

/thanks

Weather Loach
Alternative Name(s): Dojo loach
Scientific Name(s): Misgurnus anguillicaudatus/fossilis
Category: Coldwater
Difficulty: Advanced
Maximum Size: 25cms
Minimum Tank Volume: 300 litres
Minimum Tank Size: 4ft by 2ft
Water pH Range: 6.3-7.5
Water Temperature Range: 16-24°C
Water Hardness Range: 0-0

General Information: Weather loaches are very active when they want to be. These loaches thrive in groups or by themselves. Weather loaches don't like full tropical temperatures for more than a few weeks, it's best for them in coldwater or sub tropical. The name comes from their "activeness" when the weather is going to change dramaticly. when they do swim about very fast, don't be alarmed. The weather is going to change, although they can be very active when the weather isn't changing.
Diet Requirements: These loaches love skinned(cooked) peas. peas will send them wild. They eat flakes and sinking pellets. They will also gobble up brine shrimp and some dojos eat snails.
Compatability: these fine fishes will go with most fish from zebra danios to goldfish.
Recommendations: They go perfect with, zebra danios, white cloud mountain minnows, peppered corys and lake tebera rainbowfish at 22*c. in coldwater they go with fancy, common goldfish and white cloud mountain minnows.
Common Problems: These fish can sometimes catch whitespot and fungal problems but if the water quality is good there should not be a problem. When treating these problems if the occur use half doses of the medicine.
Similar Species:
Sexing: very hard to sex these wonderful loaches
Breeding: Breeding is rare in these loaches but there have been accounts of them spawning in a ph of 6.4.

I forgot to ask, how big is the tank? PVC pipes would be great..they provide awesome hiding places. Make sure they are big though..so the loaches can fit into them, lol.
Also, I think White cloud minnows would be fine in the tank.

Wow those are cool fish, maybe I'll get a few for my pond in the spring. With a big enough tank, goldfish, the loaches and the white clouds would probably work alright.

i have fancy goldfish. the tank's dimensions are weird -- 8.5'*1.25' you can check out the pic in my sig.

the temperature in the tank is 72*, is that fine? how long and wide should the pvc tubes be?

is it possible that the goldies might eat the minnows?

could i buy 5 loaches?
