where to place digital thermometer

just bought a new digital thermometer any ideas on the best place to put the probe INSIDE the tank?

I keep mine near where the flow is strongest although I move it around from time to time to make sure the temp is uniform throughout the tank (no dead spots).

If you move it around and find there are no hot/cold spots then I would place it where it least visible. Sorry if that really isn't an answer...

Any thermometer should be placed furthest from the heater. That should theoretically be the coldest point in the tank at any given time.

i got the probe hidden behind the filters intake tube right under the overflow.

Unless you have a very large tank (over 200 gallons) there should be very little variation in temperature in your tank. As long as you don't put the thermometer right next to heater it really doesn't matter where you put it.
