I'm so worried. I love my fishies. My 29 gallon tank holds three red zebras and two yellow tailed violet cichlids. They are all healthy and happy. The tank is a little small I think so I just bought a 55 for them but it is still cycling so they are still in the 29. I noticed the other day my favorite orange fish had something wrong with it's scales. They were so dry looking. Flakey, white, couple were even falling off! Now a couple of my other fish have it too! My violet female is the worse. She has a hole in her side fin, her scales are white and just awful looking. Her top fin even looks a little torn. Another orange fish has the same thing but not as bad. What could be wrong with them!? :sad I'm so sad!

PH 7.6
Nitrites 0
Ammonia .5-1.0
KH 16
GH 18

We just moved into a new apartment and they were moved today. BUT the first fish to have this got it BEFORE we moved. So as for the water peramaters I don't know if they are accurate since they have "new" water. Here are some pics too. Oh I hope you guys can help me. :sad

It coul dbe taht they had injuries form fighting, then with the bad water quality they are starting to develope an infection at the site.Just guessing though

SOmetimes my africans get white patches on their sides from fighting. Are your fish aggresive?

DO water chagnes as their should be no ammonia or nitrites in you tank. Keep testing and doign water chagnes untill they read 0. Nitrates should be low but should give you a reading.

So i would do water chagnes and maybe add some melafix to see if taht helps the white patches.

Judging by all of the "sharp" stuff they can run into yep i would say they are fighting at night. see if the problems go away in the darger tank and idd some stress coat to help healing.
