I was looking around craigslist and found this add, I almost want to contact him just to find out what the heck the laser is.:thud: :duh: Anybody here ever hear of it before? :confused:

I got a 55 gallon Tru Vu plexi glass fish tank for sale. It has everything for an aquarium.

* oceanic background

* light/hood

* 500 aqua clear filter

* 250watt heater

* tetra 60 whisper air pump

* powerhead pump

* ortanments

* gravel and rocks

* salt and ph scale level water check

* medicene and food for fishes

* mircale beam laser (which suppose to increase fish life span, keep it healty, and changes fishes color)

* 6 inche flowerhorn and a small blood parrot fish.

This is the whole setup. It is all you need to have a aquarium. It is in good condition and setup pretty nice. i am tryin to sell it for $300obo. It is setup for freshwater, but you can use it for a saltwater setup too since it is plexi glass. It is ready to go and in great condition. Let me know if you got any questions. Thanks

I've seen it before, it's basically an underwater LED. The company makes a ton of claims that it will kill algae make the fish happier ect ect, but I don't see how it can.

Here is their website.

The MiracleBeam™ Aquarium Laser System is the most revolutionary aquarium device in the world today. After years of testing on tropical fish (fresh and saltwater), the MiracleBeam™ Aquarium Laser System was developed to enhance the color, life span, disease resistance, and growth rate of all your tropical fish. The MiracleBeam™ Laser reproduces a spectrum of the Sun's natural light that is inherent in tropical and reef environments. The MiracleBeam™ Laser System should be left on 8 to 12 hours per day for maximum effectiveness. (May be left on continuously).

Ok, I might be new to fish, but I know my lasers. These are the same lasers you find in $3 laser pointers. I can't imagine a fish getting hit in the eye with one of these will be anything but painfull. I certainly wouldn't use it.

No idea what they mean by representing a spectrum of the suns natural light. ANY device, flashlights, LED's, lasers or a campfire does that. Lasers are totally useless for growing plants and last I read, fish don't use sunlight to grow. They prfer frozen or flake foods. :-)

In my opinion, these are just decorations. Without seeing them I can't say if they are boring, flashy or wonderfull lighting, but the fish health claims are pure bull. Go ahead and play with the lasers outside of the tank if you buy the set.. it will provide you with more fun.

I'll post an interesting laser story later. :-)

I've seen some lasery things in some of the display tanks at the big box pet store down the road from my house. The fish don't care at all, and it wasn't really to my tastes in terms of adding to the decor. But then I'm one of those people that uses only all white Christmas lights, so maybe I'm just against the bright colours. :P
