Can anyone tell me what the recommended ratio of males to females for bosemani rainbow fish is? Currently I have two males and four females. I've read somewhere and they recommend more males then females and yet my lfs suggested less males than females.

thanks.

i have two boesami rainbows, and the male is always chasing the female. and this is how i was told they would act

I've had a boesmani rainbowfish and planned on setting up a species-only tank for them. I "read" that, for a breeding set, it is best to have 2 males and 3 females.

The males will chase each other around and show off to the females. It keeps them busy with each other instead of irritating the women.

I would think 4 males and 2 females instead of what you've got.

I have 2 male and 4 female b. rainbows. They are still small so maybe I will have some more males. They dont seem to be chasing each other that much. however my tank is 120 gal.

I have four Boesmani rainbowfish. How do you tell the difference betweeen males and females? Yeah, I know about the "fuller body" etc. - but what does that mean?

The males are much more colorful than the females. The females look "washed out" compared to the males.
